Boehlerit agricultural technology innovations increase efficiency and productivity
Agricultural technology innovations

It’s been eight years since the Boehlerit agricultural technology portfolio was first launched, and the carbide and tool specialist is once again presenting innovative developments and additions to its existing range. They include a carbide hoe blade with a handle, a carbide harrow blade, and a carbide cultivator sweep programme, now optimised and with two additional sizes.

Back in 2017, Boehlerit first set a new quality standard for soil cultivation with its carbide cultivator share. The next generation of this innovative product provides a range of benefits that increase all aspects of efficiency and productivity. For instance, the second generation comes with a slotted hole in addition to the two drill holes in the intake area, which means that it may be mounted to all of the commonly used machines. The newly developed twist protection, a raised element in the intake area, may be used with the original guide plates of all standard cultivators. The patented, specially arranged carbide system not just increases the lifespan by at least 5 times, but also reduces the loss of width, ensuring optimal working quality throughout the lifespan of the product. This makes it easy to predict the end of the tool life and rules out share breakage. The second generation of the carbide cultivator share is available in widths of 50 mm or 80 mm.

On the basis of the tried-and-tested carbide system, the carbide subsoiler share with a width of 70 mm was developed, with the goal of improving the tool life as well as operational quality as the width of the share is preserved. Thanks to the continuous expansion of assembly possibilities for different machine manufacturers (such as Alpego, Maschio, Vigolo etc.), the subsoiler share is already compatible with many different machine types. Boehlerit is thus taking the next step towards a full range of wear parts for soil cultivation.

More widths and optimised reinforcement for the Boehlerit cultivator sweep

The carbide cultivator sweep for stubble working and weed control was launched in spring 2019 and is now available in an optimised, reinforced version, with an integrated tip. The slightly lowered position of the tip makes digging easier and the specially arranged, small carbide segments retain their cutting power throughout the tool life of the product. In addition, they provide outstanding operational quality and a high level of wear protection, retaining their operating width right until the end of the tool life. Carbide side elements are placed in such a way as to form a constant cutting line and absorb shocks during the working of the soil. The innovative "beaver's tooth" effect was also optimised, making the self-sharpening properties of the carbide cutting edge even more efficient. A complete novelty is the welded-on reinforcement in the intake area, which helps to prevent share breakage. The fact that the tip is integrated in the reinforcement means that it is fully protected. The carbide cultivator sweep is available in the widths 200 mm, 260 mm and 300 mm. In the 2022 season, two more sizes were added (370 mm and 420 mm), for particularly large working widths.

Brand-new Boehlerit carbide harrow blade: The ideal addition to the existing portfolio for mechanical weed control

When it comes to mechanical weed control, the Boehlerit engineers from Kapfenberg have once again harnessed the power of self-sharpening, serrated carbide blades and have come up with an innovative hoe blade. The product has a lower tip that makes digging easier, retains its cutting width until the end of its tool life and offers the possibility of welding different intake elements onto the base unit. The serrated carbide segments in combination with the beaver tooth effect minimise the risk of weed not being cut or slipping past the hoe - a major benefit of this product. The carbide hoe blade is available in widths of 100 – 200 mm and in 20 mm gradations. The tried-and-tested carbide hoe blade has been available as the optimised Boehlerit hoe blade solution since the season of 2022, with a welded handle in widths from 120 to 200 mm, in gradations of 20 mm. This eliminates angular deviations and improves operational quality as well as tool life even further. The share wings and the hoe blade handle may also be purchased separately. A handle version with a lateral screw connection is also available. In the 2022 season, the launch of the carbide cultivator share introduced the next step of the innovative carbide hoe blade for tough working conditions on combination seed drills compared to a backhoe. The cultivator share may also be used as a hoe blade in more difficult operating conditions. The Boehlerit harrow blade was one of the 20 products nominated for the Systems & Components Trophy at the Agritechnica 2022. In order to ensure that the product can withstand higher working speeds as well as more intense working depths and shocks, a reinforcement with an integrated tip is welded on. The thickness of the carbide segments was also adjusted in order to maintain the wear ratio between the carbide inserts and the steel hoe. The carbide harrow blade is available in widths of 100 – 200 mm and in 20 mm gradations with a range of intake elements for sprung tines. Boehlerit also offers the ideal solution for weed control in the upper soil layer while protecting the crop at the same time. The half-shell weeder tines fitted with carbide offer optimum processing quality, a constantly sharp cutting edge until the end of the tool life and a tool life extension of up to 10 times that of the conventional steel version. So anyone who always keeps an eye on costs and focuses on maximum economic efficiency is well served by Boehlerit's agricultural technology products.
