Crop Plot Showcase: Agrii

Agrii is highlighting new genetics and digital tools to help growers tackle today’s crop production challenges with less risk and better margins.
“We’re showcasing hybrid and conventional winter barley varieties, winter wheat, spring barley and naked oats,” says Sam Dungworth, seed manager at Agrii. “It’s all about giving growers options that balance yield, input costs, and risk.”
The standout hybrid barley Armadillo combines yield with excellent resistance and vigour, making it ideal for blackgrass suppression without compromising standability. Meanwhile, the winter wheat Fitzroy offers low septoria risk and dependable performance under limited spray access or harsh field conditions. “It’s the kind of variety that doesn’t keep you up at night,” she says. “High yields are great, but only if the inputs don’t eat the margin.”
Also featured is Belter, a new dual-purpose spring barley with high yield potential, strong agronomics, and provisional approval for both malting and distilling. “We’ve had solid varieties like Planet and Laureate for years, but Belter brings something new with next-gen genetics.”
Agrii will also be focusing on decision support, notes marketing lead Annabelle Beaumont. “Our digital tools and touchscreen demos show how to tailor inputs to field variability, maximising return and avoiding waste. Every field’s different, and precision is everything.”
Three cover crop plots will also be on display, showcasing Agrii’s in-house SAM grazing, autumn catch, and integrated pest management mixes. “With the sustainable farming incentive (SFI) and soil health taking centre stage, cover crops are a bigger part of the conversation than ever,” says Ms Beaumont.
