Crop Plot Showcase: Corteva

Visitors to Corteva’s stand will get a first-hand look at the practical outcomes of the company’s R&D investment - from clover-compatible chemistry to disease-tolerant genetics, all aimed at making UK farms more productive and sustainable.
It will have a diverse plot showcasing winter wheat, oilseed rape, white clover and a new Pioneer maize variety, reflecting its cross-sector innovation in both crop protection and seed development.
Among the highlights is ProClova, a clover-safe herbicide for grassland systems (both newly sown and established), something growers have long awaited. “It fills a major gap in weed control,” says Eddie Bardsley, principal biologist at Corteva. “You can now reliably manage broadleaf weeds while retaining valuable clover in the sward, which is vital for livestock systems and soil health.” Alongside it is Prograss, which offers broad spectrum control including docks, nettles, buttercups and the tough-to-kill hogweed and cow parsley.
In arable systems, Corteva is unveiling Broadway Ultra, a new-generation cereal herbicide that offers robust control of troublesome grassweeds, including annual meadow grass and a wide range of broadleaf weeds. This helps growers manage increasingly challenging weed spectra.
For oilseed rape, Corteva is focusing on resilience traits. Varieties on show exhibit resistance to sclerotinia and verticillium wilt, two unpredictable yet potentially devastating diseases. “When these hit, yield losses can be severe,” Mr Bardsley says. “Having varieties with built-in resistance gives growers peace of mind in risk-prone areas.”
Corteva will also debut Pioneer P68106, a new maize hybrid being shown for the first time at the event. “It is for biogas, forage or grain production and is shorter, with a stiff straw and good standing power, ideal for UK conditions,” says Mr Bardsley. “It offers high dry matter yields and early maturity, giving growers flexibility without compromising performance.”
