Dr Ruth Bastow
Dr Ruth Bastow is the Innovation Director at Crop Health and Protection (CHAP). Ruth has a Ph.D in Plant Biology and has held research posts in plant genetics and breeding nationally and internationally. She left the ‘bench’ to pursue a career in science strategy, policy and communication and has held several leadership roles including the Executive Director of the Global Plant Council, where she coordinated the activities of 28 national, regional and international plant, crop and soil societies to facilitate the development of research for global challenges. Having grown up on a mixed farm in South Wales she has now come full circle to her role at CHAP to accelerate the development and adoption of innovative agritech solutions that advance crop productivity in a sustainable manner.
