Jim Chapman
Jim was brought up on a council dairy farm where his passion for farming began, but unlike his father it was tractors and machinery that interested him rather than cows. After leaving school Jim worked for a bailing contractor before starting my own business. In 2005 Jim lost his left arm to a PTO shaft which resulted in ending his contracting business.
Every cloud has a silver lining and his came in the form of his wife Anna and her contacts that resulted in his current role, looking after a 500-acre arable farm near Leamington Spa where he has been reducing tillage and trying to improve soils over the last 6 years or so.
In 2016 Jim completed a Nuffield Scholarship where he investigated farm safety and how the industry might improve its terrible record.
Jim currently has the honour of being Chair of Trustees for the Farm Safety Foundation, Yellow Wellies, trying to change attitudes and behaviours around farm safety and mental wellbeing.
