Dr Martin Grantley-Smith
Martin joined the agricultural industry when undertaking a PhD in ruminant nutrition at the National Institute for Research in Dairying. He then went on to join the Meat and Livestock Commission, initially on research and then working his way around many aspects of agriculture in both England and Scotland. This included a period looking at how UK supply chains could be made more competitive and sustainable as well as the businesses within them. He transferred to the cereals and oilseeds sector in 2009 when he joined AHDB. He main interests are in strategy and planning which he uses to ensure that the needs of the industry both now and in the future drive the work of AHDB, and the relationship between AHDB and its stakeholders works for both parties.
